Deactivated

One by one, privateer vessels with licenses issued by The Directory of Havvacor are coming into port on their home planet. Their recent activities have created tension with powerful Khar-Hurrians, who are upset by their constant hijacking of commercial vessels and disrupting trade in general. The Directory is hoping that this meeting will establish a set of ground rules to put their powerful rivals’ mind at ease, but the conversation has not been going well.

Raiding has been very profitable for the privateers, and The Directory’s request to stop attacking vessels under Alliance of Seven Satellites flag has met with serious resistance. Alliance has been by far the richest target for privateer raids, and they are understandably reluctant to leave it’s ships alone. After three days of impasse, frustrated Directors put another offer on the table: become incorporated into Havvacor navy or disband, upon penalty of being outlawed for piracy.

Most of the captains flat out refuse, and are given a single day to leave before being hunted down as pirates, along with their crews and all possessions. The ones who stay go back to searching for Idiranium deposits, but this time under the Havvacor flag. Theoretically, they are now liable to be attacked by their former comrades, though the promise of richer plunder and feeble resistance keeps Alliance shipping the pirates’ preferred target.

For now, the biggest winner in all this is the Banigoth Horde. Even though nominally Havvacor navy just got doubled, The Directory is now on the hook for paying these incorporated crews and maintaining their ships. For their part, Banigoth privateers are wholly provided for thru plunder, yet could be made available for a coordinated military action, should the need arise.

But all this is hanging on their ability to swiftly locate and punish the attackers on The Arrow. While all Banigoth-affiliated privateers vehemently deny any involvement, they remain the primary suspect, and Khar-Hurrians have made it clear they expect the guilty crew(s) to be made an example of. They are told that a condition of their continued employment is to give up those responsible, but thus far nobody has been identified, and apart from some wild rumors, there is not real trail to follow. The tension continues.
